HYS Children's Fund : Your Loving Donations Needed Today!
For over 20 years, Gurunath and his wife Gurumata Shivangini were giving half their income, often living on one meal a day, to help feed thousands of destitute rural children and fund an orphanage in their hometown of Pune, India.
Recently, someone in America expressed to them that in the West, this is commonly called "charity". Yet, for Gurumata and Gurunath, these activities are an every day way of life. Gurunath muses that he preferred that this continued as it had years ago, since the truest, most powerful charity is one simply performed with love and without our ego's self-awareness. On this foundation, the Hamsa Children's Fund was born.
Hamsa Yoga Sangh (HYS) recognizes the importance and power of this International charitable work and realizes the incredible opportunity for new volunteers to join Gurumata and Gurunath in support of this noble effort. Any form of philanthropy and selfless service opens the heart chakra and evolves the practitioner through the process of Karma Yoga. On this foundation, the Hamsa practitioner grows through the process of Karma Yoga. Since it began, the Hamsa Children's program has improved the quality of life for countless thousands of rural Indian children in the provinces of Donje, Golewadi and surrounding villages near Pune, India.

For the past 7 years, each weekend, about fifty children visit the Hamsa Yoga Sangh Mother Center and Siddhanath Forest Ashram to be fed, receive lessons in hygiene, English, meditation and mantras, and to receive clothing and education materials to take home. Each year, on the great festival of Mahashivratri, the ashram opens its doors to over one thousand children at once, who take a day off from school to receive a delicious and nutritious cooked meal, and celebrate this holy day. Living in the most challenging and limited environments, these children come dressed in their best - what for many is a simple school uniform and a pair of sandals, if they have them.
Aside from the spiritual center, Gurunath and Gurumata support the Pune Orphanage, paying for seasonal immunization shots, building infrastructure such as water heaters and air conditioners, and giving money to keep the orphans cared for and managed on a ongoing basis. Their personal capacities however, are limited. These children and their villages are in dire need of basic resources for health care, education, and even exposure to the world's technology. In a land where Spirituality is such a natural part of each of these children's waking days, so too should have the hope and opportunity for a better life.
Positive life potentiality can be found everywhere and with each step, we too can create possibility where "change for the better", becomes the inevitable. With the Hamsa Children's Fund, these thousands of children can have a future they never imagined possible.
